Dream Works animation are set to unleash a special DVD Called The Penguins Of Madagascar: I Was a Penguin Zombie that contains 6 episodes of their animated TV series strung together and shamelessly marketed as an 88 minute film. It's getting an October release in the U.S and a Possible Nov/Dec release in the U.K. I wasn't a fan of the Madagascar films but I did find the Penguins to be the most entertaining characters, so I'm kind of glad they're getting this film.
But as it's aimed at kids, obviously don't go expecting blood, guts and brains, but for 88 minutes sit back with your kids or even by your self and enjoy watching a big Hollywood studio try and make something zombilicious.

Blood Drive
If I was to tell you that a game being released soon involves zombies and is set in a Las Vegas-esque city, you'd probably think I was referring to Dead Rising 2. Well you'd be correct and yet so very wrong. For Activision have announced today that they too are releasing a zombie game set in a Las Vegas-esque city entitled Blood Drive. Coincidence? Obviously not. But unlike DR2, this game's main appeal appears to be it's arcade qualities. The basic premise of Blood Drive centers around smashing apart zombies with vehicles! No, this isn't a Carmageddon remake! It's a Carmageddon rip-off! This crazy game is full of undead destroying, manic racing all with weapon-covered vehicles. The game (set for an Xbox and a PS3 release) is also said to feature six different environments and multi-player options. Sure it's not very original, but it looks like one hell of a fun game!

THE BEATLES? AS ZOMBIES? SURELY NOT
Here's some rather intriguing news for Beatles Fans, The Fab Four are to be transformed into the living dead in the film, brilliantly titled, PAUL IS UNDEAD. The film is based on the book by Alan Goldsher and the synopsis follows....
Here’s how crazy the book gets.. Lennon is a zombie guitarist who kills and zombifies McCartney and they do the same with Harrison and Starr. The story will still have The Beatles creating greatest hits. But wait for it,… wait for it.. they’re being chased by a zombie hunter named.. Mick Jagger, I kid you not. No word yet if this Jagger zombie has that famous big ass Jagger lips.
And then there’s a battle scene with Eighth Level Ninja Lord named… Yoko Ono, I kid you not again.
Along the way The Beatles will get to eat the brains of his fans and groupies
This along with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
will bring something very original to the sub genre. I for one am stoked for this...

ZOMBIE ROAD KILL TV SERIES?
Here's some pretty awesome sounding news, Sam Raimi is apparently involved in a TV series called Zombie Road Kill, yeah I know, how awesome is that, and what makes it even better is that is stars Thomas Hayden Church Aka Sandman from Raimi's Spider-man 2.
Here's the plot....
ZOMBIE ROAD KILL centers around a group of college kids as they are driving on an unfamiliar road. Everything seems fit for a road trip to the lake but, when the group accidentally runs over an unsuspecting squirrel, they quickly realize there will be a price to pay. The cursed road brings the zombie squirrel back to life to terrorize the kids. After the kids crash and everyone is injured except the younger brother, he is forced to set out on a journey to defeat the ancient curse and save his brother and friends before it is too late.
So with this and Frank Darabont's The Walking Dead coming in October, the small screen doesn't seem safe any more....bring on the TV zombies....

The Zombie Opera.
So we've got zombie films, books, games, t-shirts, music and even sex toys. Well, now there's a zombie opera! So zombie musical theatre is nothing particularly new; there's The Evil Dead Musical and Night Of The Musical Dead for example, but this opera manages to mix both live theatre with theatre. Evenings in Quarantine: The Zombie Opera, created by Artistic Directors Bonnie Bogovich and Elizabeth Rishel is currently in its production stage with its scheduled premiere taking place on October 15th in the home of the flesh-eating zombie, Pittsburgh. The show utilises a moving and interactive video backdrop providing the audience with a much more visual aspect of the opera.
According to the opera's website;
Sounds like fun! To find out more head over to their website.

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: ORIGINS COMING SOON
George A Romero's classic genre defining film is set to get another remake, this time instead of being in B/W or 3D it's going to be animated. But, this has me intrigued, an animated zombie film based on the granddaddy of the modern day walking dead....what's not to love. The Cast so far is a sort of Romero movie mash up of previous Dead movie actors. We have Tony Todd, Bill Mosley and Joseph Pilato who are joined by Danielle Harris (Hatchet 2) and Tom Sizemore (The Relic). The film is written and directed by Zachary De Soto and the film is currently in Post production. Will keep you posted as i get more news on this. In the meantime here is a promo poster for the film...
